CA Foundation Eligibility Criteria 2023, Registration Age Limit, Fees
CA Foundation is the first step to become a CA in India. Students who want to register for the CA Foundation course of May/Nov 2023 must fulfil the eligibility criteria. The eligibility criteria are set by the ICAI (Institute of Chartered Accountants of India), the governing body of the Chartered Accountants.

CA Foundation Eligibility Criteria 2023
As per the CA Foundation eligibility, students who are appearing or have cleared the class 12th exams from the recognized board can register for the Foundation course. Also, eligible students must fill out the registration form before the last date.
The last date to fill out the CA Foundation registration form for May 2023 exams is Jan 1, 2023, and for Nov 2023 exams is July 1, 2023.
After the registration, do consider the CA Foundation syllabus and CA Foundation exam pattern for the 2023 exams.
Important Note* – ICAI has released the CA Foundation Exam dates for the June 2023 exams. The papers will conduct from June 24 to June 30, 2023.
CA Foundation Eligibility Exemptions:
Criteria for Candidates | Exemptions |
UG & PG | Candidates who have secured aggregate marks of 55% in UG or PG degree in Commerce stream or any other equivalent stream for any recognized university will be exempted from CA Foundation Eligibility Criteria. |
NIOS | Students who have qualified UG & PG degrees from Open University will be exempted from CA Foundation Eligibility Criteria 2023. |
Non-Commerce | Students who have UG & PG degrees in a stream other than commerce and have secured around 60% marks from a recognized university will be exempted from CA Foundation Eligibility Criteria 2023. |
Age Limit Eligibility for CA Foundation Registration
There is no age limit to register for the CA Foundation course. Candidates of any age can register for CA Foundation and pursue the CA Course.

Ques 1. Can a class 12th student register for the CA Foundation Course?
Yes, class 12th students can provisionally register for the CA Foundation course. However, they can give the CA Foundation exams only after passing class 12th.

Yes, class 12th students can give the CA Foundation May attempt exams. But, they have to register for the course before the last date. For instance, students have to register for the CA Foundation May 2023 exams before 31st Dec 2022.

Yes, graduate students can also register for the CA Foundation course and give the exams. Furthermore, if they scored more than 55% in the commerce stream and 60% in the science and arts stream, then they can directly register for the CA Intermediate course.
