Was the ICAI Digital Portal Hacked?

ICAI has reported unsuccessful access attempts. The announcement does not say that attackers successfully entered its systems or that user data was stolen.

However, ICAI has made it clear that hacking, probing, data extraction, data theft, manipulation, disruption and misuse of any ICAI digital platform are strictly prohibited.

ICAI said these activities may be punishable under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The warning also covers identity theft, impersonation, online cheating, tampering with computer records, changing or deleting electronic data and attacks on protected computer systems.

What Should ICAI Members and Students Do?

Users should access the ICAI digital portal only through the official ICAI website & authorised ICAI applications. Do not enter your ICAI login details on links received through unknown emails, messages, advertisements or social media posts.

Check the website address carefully before signing in. Avoid fake ICAI websites, fraudulent mobile apps & phishing emails. Never share passwords or other account credentials with unauthorised persons.

ICAI has stated that it will not be responsible for losses caused by using unauthorised platforms or disclosing credentials to unauthorised people.

ICAI follows a zero-tolerance policy towards cybercrime. The Institute uses technical, administrative & legal measures to monitor & secure its digital infrastructure. It also maintains audit trails & security monitoring systems to identify suspicious activity & attempted intrusions.

Anyone trying to compromise the ICAI digital portal, network or information system may face strict legal action. Members, students and other users should remain alert and use only official ICAI digital services.
