ICAI Inaugurates Global Orbit Summit 2026 in New Delhi: Focus on India's GCC Leadership

The theme of the summit was “ICAI Global Orbit: From GCCs to Global Leadership.” It reflects ICAI’s aim to position India as a leading destination for accounting, finance & digitally delivered professional services. ICAI President CA Prasanna Kumar D attended the programme with Central Council members & NIRC representatives. ICAI said the discussions explored how GCCs can support global leadership and innovation.

What are Global Capability Centres?

Global Capability Centres, commonly known as GCCs, are specialised units established by multinational companies to manage important business functions. These centres may provide finance, accounting, taxation, analytics, technology, cybersecurity, research, human resources & business support services.

GCCs are no longer limited to routine back-office work. Many centres now manage high-value activities, including business strategy, risk management, digital transformation & global decision-making.

The ICAI Global Orbit Summit brought together chartered accountants, business leaders, policymakers & other stakeholders to discuss ways to improve the GCC ecosystem in India. The main topics covered were accounting and compliance, finance innovation, AI and automation, data privacy, cybersecurity, global taxation, talent development, ESG and sustainability, ethics, governance, and changes in investment and processes.

The initiative is important for chartered accountants because GCCs need professionals with knowledge of global reporting, regulation, technology, taxation & cross-border business. It can create better career opportunities for Indian CAs while helping international companies access skilled finance & advisory professionals.

The New Delhi program kicks off the ICAI Global Summit 2026. After that, the summit heads to Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, & Chennai. With the ICAI Global Orbit Summit, ICAI wants to sharpen professional skills, open up knowledge sharing, & boost collaboration across industries. It’s also about driving policy talks & backing India’s reputation as a reliable leader in global services.
