In response to the flood situation in Punjab and Jammu, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has launched a nationwide flood relief fund appeal titled “Together for a Cause” to support affected communities. The appeal urges ICAI members, students and the public to give generously to relief efforts, noting that even “every contribution – small or big – carries the power to rebuild homes, restore lives, and reignite hope”.
ICAI Launches Flood Relief Fund Appeal
ICAI President CA Charanjot Singh Nanda emphasized the profession’s duty to serve. The ICAI statement calls on members, students and stakeholders to “rise together and extend a helping hand” during this crisis. The Institute reminds everyone that collective strength and compassion are vital for relief. In keeping with its legacy of service, ICAI is pooling donations to help people recover from this disaster.
Flood Relief Fund and Tax Benefits
For immediate relief and rehabilitation in flood-affected areas, ICAI has set up the ICAI Flood Relief Fund 2025. All donations collected in this fund will be transferred to the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF). The PMNRF is a government-administered trust that provides immediate aid to disaster victims. Importantly, contributions to the PMNRF qualify for 100% tax deduction under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act. In other words, donors can deduct the entire amount of their gift from taxable income, maximizing the benefit of their donation.
How to Donate
ICAI has made giving easy and transparent. Donations can be made as follows:
- Online: Contribute securely via the ICAI relief portal at relief.icai.org.
- Bank Transfer: Use the ICAI Flood Relief Fund 2025 account at HDFC Bank (Ghaziabad). Details: A/C No. 50100511383630, IFSC HDFC0000422.
- Cheque / DD: Send a demand draft or cheque (payable to “ICAI Flood Relief Fund 2025”) to the Secretary, ICAI (ICAI Bhawan, Indraprastha Marg, New Delhi 110002).
Donors should email their contribution details (name, ICAI membership/registration number, PAN, and transaction reference) to [email protected] so the Institute can issue proper acknowledgments.
